I am a Finn who has lived 4,5 years in Germany, 1,5 years in Italy and one year in Hungary and I have succesfully integrated to local communities in all of those three countries - in most of the situations I did not need English as 'lingua franca' between me and the locals, instead I could live my life fully in German, Italian and Hungarian.

When I moved to Hungary for a year without being able to speak Hungarian, I noticed that the language courses offered for foreign students by my university were not effective at all. They were more like amateur theater clubs where both teacher and students were acting as if we would be learning Hungarian - simultaneously knowing that none of us would really succeed. As I had made a serious decision that I wanted to learn the language at any cost and be able to communicate fully with the locals, I hence needed to create my own systematic methods to learn the language quickly. That worked; in one month from my arrival I could already manage shopping at the cheese boutique or at the telecommunications shop in Hungarian, in three months I surprised one of my professors by changing the language to Hungarian, in half a year my social life happened mostly in Hungarian and in 8-9 months I was misunderstood to be a Hungarian, who just for fun, pronounces some words incorrectly.

After ten years the level of my Hungarian has diminished but the methods of quick language learning have remained — and they can be applied in many languages. I would be glad to help others who are struggling to figure out how to learn Finnish quickly — and offer the methods which I used for Hungarian to be helping your process when learning Finnish.

As I right now live in Karlsruhe, Germany, I will offer languages lessons online. (Teams/Zoom/GoogleMeet/Jitsi etc.)

For this summer the prices are:

45 minutes - 25 €
60 minutes - 30 €
75 minutes - 35 €
90 minutes - 40 €

I will offer free 20 minutes video call for saying hello and for talking about your backround, language level, goals and about the teaching methods.

The prices are valid until 30th of September as I move back to Finland and both my work situation and calender will change.

Magyarul beszélek mostanapon ritkábban és azért az én magyarom nem ilyen jó mint tíz évvel ezelött amikor laktam Magyarországon, de ha akarsz hogy tanitok finn nyelvet magyarul, próbálhatunk ezt is! És ha én rosszab leszek, csinálhatunk egy kicsit olcsobban.

My main professional activities are in the fields of urban planning and transportation, as well as in Western art music. Thus, I have also special vocabulary and knowledge in both the technical and cultural fields. Additionally, since I work as consultant writing official reports in Finnish for both public and private sector, I am able to help with formal writing as well.
